When an employee internally applies for a position, an email is generated to the hiring manager alerting them that they have a new internal application. Additionally, an "FYI" email is generated to the employee's current manager/supervisor letting them know the employee's interest in a new position.
Employees are not eligible to apply for a different job if their most recent performance review was less than "Meets Expectations," if they are on disciplinary probation or if they are in a performance improvement or corrective action plan. Additionally, they must have been employed six months or been in their current position a minimum of six months.
Exceptions to the "six-month" wait:
Qualified candidates will be interviewed by the manager in charge of the position. Candidates may not be interviewed if they do not meet the minimum qualifications for the position or the hiring manager previously interviewed the same candidate for the same or similar position.
In all cases, decisions will be made on the basis of qualifications, suitability to the vacant job and the ability to train the candidate.
After notification to all candidates for the position by the manager, the employee awarded the position will be announced via intranet homepage employee staffing change announcement.
Job transfers may occur to and from any grade level. Transfers to a grade level lower than the employee's current level may result in a decrease in pay and will not exceed the maximum pay range of the new position.
The hiring manager will contact the candidate’s current manager to discuss information concerning performance reviews, discipline and other actions documented. To verify that this meeting occurs, both managers will sign the acknowledgement form and send it to HR.
