A primary responsibility of this position is to develop visual elements and designs for materials and media. This position provides recommendations about technological and media opportunities that contribute to AmeriCU’s marketing and branding goals. Some Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Creative Direction: Responsible for determining the best vehicles and methods to visually represent AmeriCU’s company identity. Participates in creative brainstorming sessions, assists with multiple campaigns and projects from concept through completion, develops multiple creative programs and design concepts that meet the business objectives of the organization and advance the brand strategy, establishes creative direction for the entire line of online services and programs, and provides quality control and brand consistency over concepts and projects.
  • Graphic Design: Provides creative concepts, graphic design, layout and art production for all marketing, advertising/promotions and branding communications efforts as needed to achieve organizational Balanced Scorecard goals.  Duties include collaborating with the marketing team, photographers/videographers, web programmers, copywriters and others to develop and execute visual design (including typography, visual concept, logo and icon design) for a variety of media and materials (such as online/social media, outdoor/signage, email, print, radio, presentations, collateral, television, direct mail, promotional items, trade show materials, Annual Report, and Financial Center merchandising, including lobby and point-of-purchase display signage). Ensures that all designs function successfully for varying technical and performance specifications. 


  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design and/or fine arts. Understanding of and experience in corporate branding, layout, color theory and typography in print and digital media.
  • Experience: Five years as a graphic designer for cohesive multimedia campaigns and elements as well as a minimum of three years in web design and online marketing is preferred for this role.   Must possess a thorough understanding of interactive communications and delivery systems, processes, and user interface design as well as industry best practices. Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, and typography. A strong working knowledge of experience design, brand development, interactive commerce and creative process. Print and web design capabilities: must know how to work in both media for integrated campaigns. Ability to lead projects from concept to completion. Apply best practices in user interface and interactive design, including search engine and image optimization and site mapping.
  • Communication: Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to effective manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Software: Fluency in current graphic design practices and web production software, such as inDesign, Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.). Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and excellent working knowledge of Internet and social/mobile media and apps.
  • Technical: Strong technical knowledge of how web-based technologies apply to web design such as HTML, Flash, CSS, and AJAX. Knowledge of Web site structure and functionality.
  • Other: Must be able to travel to coordinate and attend meetings, as required. Some lifting and loading is required.
